The design brief for Model 3 was that it should follow the form of the Phase 1 schools, with the modifications necessary to create a mixed gender school for 1,000 students, with complete segregation between males and females. This model school design incorporates a program for kindergarten as well as cycles 1, 2 and 3 (grades one to twelve).
Situated at Al Shwaib in Al Ain, the Model 3 design strives to maintain the essence of ADEC’s vision, which is that education should be organized around teaching and learning for individual students, rather than classes and groups. These “Learning Communities” enable teachers to enhance motivation and treat each student individually, using varied methods of instruction, class scheduling and group sizes. Each school is equipped with facilities which include ICT/science labs, a four lane, 25 meter swimming pool, outdoor sports fields, a library, a cafeteria with seating for 205 people, a multi-purpose gymnasium with staged seating capacity of 425, a music room, and an art room.
