KEO was appointed by Marbu Contracting Company as Design Consultants for the contract to extend Al Khor STW. The contract was for the Design, Build, Operate, Train and Transfer of a new Sewage Treatment Works to serve the town of Al Khor, Qatar. The Works were designed to treat flows from a design population of 18,000 with provision for extension to serve a future population of 36,000. The new works replace the existing STW which was assessed as being unsuitable for upgrading.

KEO was responsible for the hydraulic, civil, structural, architectural and environmental engineering design of the contract. The project also covered some elements of the mechanical and electrical design include surge analyses. KEO prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment, Hazop and Risk Management studies as well as the co-ordination and review of designs for the contract. The contract include the provision of a new inlet works, sequencing batch reactors, tertiary treatment, disinfection, effluent storage tanks, lagoons, and assorted buildings and pumping stations. Sludge Treatment included sludge thickening, sludge stabilization, and sludge dewatering facilities.
