The Tourism and Investment Company (TDIC) is a master developer of major tourism projects in Abu Dhabi. Saadiyat Island is a large, low-lying island 500 meters off the Abu Dhabi coast, envisioned as an international tourism destination and home to 145,000 residents. It boasts of an unusual concentration of international cultural institutions, including the Zayed National Museum, The Louvre – Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim – Abu Dhabi, the Performing Arts Center, and the Maritime Museum. Spread over 27 square kilometers, Saadiyat Island has seven districts and a developed area of 26,000 hectares. The resident community and visitors are well served by 12 kilometers of highway, 10 kilometers of light railway and three inter-island bridges.
