The 7 storey Emirates Palace was designed to host the GCC Summit Conference, and the five-star, 450 room hotel, managed by Kempinski Hotels, won Best New Five-Star Hotel for the Year 2005, Best Conference/Convention Hotel, and Best Tourism Project for 2005. The goal was to create a world-class hotel that would be a conference facility worthy of the Rulers and Heads of State who would be attending the summit. The Design Architect was Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG). KEO’s role was that of executive architect, structural engineer, infrastructure engineer, specialist coordinator, cost/QS engineer, and construction supervisor.
