The golf course is located within the PDO Ras Al Hamra development. The former golf course was a walking only, nine hole ‘brown’ course, which was to be upgraded into a walking only, fully irrigated, grass course – including fairways, greens and tees - by the Australian golf course designer, Graham Marsh, under the leadership of KEO Landscape Architectural Services.
With a large part of the golf course being located in a wadi which drains a considerable area of land, part of the course design was to provide stormwater mitigation to alleviate flooding issues. This led to the opportunity to sculpt the fairways, include bunkers and waste areas, and add aesthetic bunds to enhance the golfing experience. The signature golf course is connected to Ras Al Hamra’s flagship recreation and beach club, also designed by KEO.
