KEO provided detail design services and project management services for one of the largest waste water treatment plants ever implemented by the private sector. This project was achieved using a build operate and transfer (BOT) method providing an opportunity for the private sector in participating in public utility projects.

The facility incorporates the most advanced technology available for treatment of wastewater that meets World Health Organization (WHO) standards for potable water. This is achieved by the use of a conventional biological process to produce secondary effluent followed by Ultra Filtration (UF), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and chlorination to produce the final effluent. This is the largest scale use of this technology for domestic wastewater reclamation to date. The product water is sold to the government of Kuwait for beneficial reuse in irrigation and other environmentally supportive functions.
