The Government of Bangladesh (with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation funding), implemented railway sector investment projects including construction of double tracking on the Dhaka-Chittagong line, major improvement of the principal carriage and locomotive workshop, remodeling of the terminal station at Chittagong, and procurement of rolling stock. In addition, skills training was delivered to the Bangladesh Railway employees which covered workshop practice and marketing of Bangladesh Railway services.
KEO’s scope of work included representing the contractor (Max. Group) and to ensure the proper review for the client/contractor team on specific technical issues. Most sites were on low flood plains, and the scope included the demolition of 17 existing structures as well as supporting efforts in construction of 4 major bridges (up to 200 meters wide) and 9 foot bridges and other structures such as culverts.
