Ras Al Hamra Golf Club, Oman

The semi-private desert style golf course is located within the PDO Ras Al Hamra Development, amongst an arid wadi and coastal hillsides next to the Gulf of Oman.

The original golf course was a walking only, 9-hole sand course. It has been upgraded into a completely floodlit 9-hole golf course, playable as 18 holes, with clubhouse facilities and a golf academy. It is now a walking and cart accessible, fully irrigated grass course with fairways, greens and tees, designed by the Australian golf course designer Graham Marsh, under the supervision of KEO. Established and relocated trees and native shrubs ensure that the course resembles the surrounding Omani environment.

With a large section of the golf course being located in a wadi which drains a considerable area of land, part of the course design was to provide storm water mitigation to alleviate flooding issues. This led to the opportunity to sculpt the fairways, bunkers, and waste areas, and add aesthetic bunds to enhance the golf experience.

The signature golf course will be connected to the flagship recreation club at Ras Al Hamra Beach, also designed by KEO.
