Simulation Center, HMC, Qatar

Located at Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City in Doha, the new Simulation Center comprises educational and simulation facilities that will provide medical education to surrounding hospitals and university students.

KEO project and construction management services were contracted to oversee the development of the highly specialized facility which offers a high fidelity simulation and skill-learning including the following elements: flexible classrooms; simulation facilities; laboratories; an administrative suite; a multipurpose education space; standardized patient environments.

The building was initially intended to be an Education Center and was partially constructed. However due to changes for the scope of the building, the footprint was enlarged and an additional 4th floor added which contains the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), 10 surgical lab stations, laboratories and an abattoir, all for training the nurses/doctors. A further independent steel structure was also added to act as a ‘brise soleil’ across the roof.
